dublin to cork – my 2 cents

Something was mentioned on Twitter (once again) about a photomeet in the city I have been dying to visit for quite a while; Cork. Donncha suggested a photowalk in Doneraile Park in June, he’s available on 7th, 14th and 28th. But then he says this park is quite a distance from the Cork (city).

I still want to go to Cork, whether it’s on this occasion, or on another date over the Summer, However, I did think it would cost more than NOTHING to get there from Dublin.

£16 return for Belfast to Dublin bus (every hour, all night)
£0.00 plane to Cork.

Is this for real??

you’ll probably have other charges for baggage I’d imagine, but it’s an excellent price :)

You’ll have charges for bags and credit/debit card payment but other than that, that’s it. I fly from the UK to Cork regularly and the fare is (including taxes) about £30/£40 return. The taxi from the airport to my destination (one-way) is £30 too. Doesn’t make a lot of sense but enjoy it. Fota Wildlife Park was another suggestion for the next Cork photo meetup and if we all eat Frosties we can get in for half price :) Can get the train down there and on a nice day it’s fantastic for photographs.

That’s dirt cheap, even with the usual taxes and charges. I’m sure someone could give you a lift to Doneraile. Ryan? Donal?

I’ll have room for 1 in the car, but Blarney is already 6 miles or so in the direction of Doneraile so heading back into town would be a pain in the ass for me. Must blog about this later.

Thanks for the comments – I think I will need to bring one extra bag at €30, think that will be the only charge.

Donncha keep me updated on when this is gonna happen and I shall book the flight, some suggestions of somewhere (cheap) to stay would also be awesome.

Apparently I was in Cork when I was 9. Mum is surprised I don’t remember it – I really don’t (besides some vague memories of Trabolgan)
