Just A Little Snow

February 6th, 2009

After hearing of all this snow in England, Scotland and Wales as well as South Ireland, I, and I assume, others had gotten pretty impatient for the snow to get to us in Belfast. Finally it did yesterday.

When I awoke, before 7am, the a few inches had accumulated on the ground outside, and it was still falling.

The snow didn’t stop falling until around 3pm, though it didn’t lie. Infact, as the day got brighter, distinctly no sun to be seen however, it began to melt and as I made it out at lunch time to attempt to capture a short climpse of the white powder, there was very little to be found.

It wasn’t on the streets, and certainly not on the roads. I walked to Queens University and to Botanic Gardens where some still fighting to remain. Come evening and it was all slush and ice. Shit really. Yes it’s annoying in terms of public transport and walking, but life is too short. We cannot control the weather, so take it as it comes and quit stressing. This is how I try to look at it at least. I don’t touch it, but it’s nice to look at.
