Guinness Storehouse

March 21st, 2009

Guinness is an acquired taste, you either like it or you don’t. It took me a while but now I love the taste of Guinness. I look forward to the occasional pint – it isn’t something that’s planned, but usually a last minute decision and always worth it.

Almost as tradition I would mostly drink Guinness when in Dublin, and Beamish in Cork (found it to be tastier than Guinness!). I also also drink Harp often at home (apparently the most popular beer in Northern Ireland). When in Rome..?

Excited at the possibility of getting to swim in a pool of Guinness fresh from the brewery I realised that wasn’t going to happen in this exhibition of artifacts and smiling faces. For some reason I had expected it to be smaller, more castle/dungeon-esque; large wooden doors and brick walls. The dark and dingy often associated with the “old man’s” drink.

Alas it was the complete opposite; bright and airy, lots of glass inside and out. Indeed not dark at all.

It was here that I finally got to meet Ireland’s youngest photoblogger, Rebecca, while she was in full concentration mode.

Thanks again to Pix.ie and the Guinness Storehouse for putting on the party for us and for the free pints!
