I may have killed the duckies

May 15th, 2009

It was such a fantastic weekend with the sun and heat (and sunburn!), wasn’t it, though I’m now convinced that our Summers only come in short bursts of a maximum of 4 days…

Staying out in the Ballsbridge Inn – oddly the very hotel I stayed in for the 2nd Blog Awards in 2007, then called Jury’s Ballsbridge – we had a lovely 30min walk into the city centre, but stopped at the canal on Mount Street Lower to take a few snaps.

Walking along the bank we found a few sleeping ducks… creeping slowly… the four adults eventually got scared and went into the water revealing 2 young ducklings. They too got scared and went to the water. They seemed to go the opposite direction to the adults. A short distance away, on either side were small waterfalls and canal gates. We fled quickly so as not to have the guilt of having killed them on our shoulders. I do hope they survived.

Who likes the little little duckies in the pond?

Not Phil. He’d rather see them churned up and spat out the other side of a canal.

That was the area of my lunchtime walk when I worked in Dublin! Thanks for the memory.
