Fur Is Murder

May 18th, 2009

Only 10 minutes before spotting the Legalise Cannabis Protest we noticed an anti-fur protest outside a prominent fur seller Barnardo Furs (108 Grafton Street, Dublin 2), who are certainly no stranger to protests at this stage, having had locks glued and shutters spray-painted in the past. [video from recent large protest].

Personally, I think its disgraceful that this goes on in Ireland where there are 6 mink farms and at least 1 fox farm in this country, where annually a total of 150,000 animals are killed. I totally support what they are doing here. Fur is murder!

Spoken like a vegan who only wears plastic shoes.

And is it acceptable to only eat plants when we KNOW that plants scream when cut and do actually die.

Hypocrites the lot of them.

@mj – I really set myself up for this, it’s not something I’ve thought about immensely, though killing animals for fashion I don’t think anyone should agree with. For food maybe, but these are domestic animals that are only killed for their fur.

Yes there are plenty of instances where animals are inhumanly killed for our pleasure, whether it’s high-fashion bags, belts, shoes etc, and yes the animals we eat aren’t always kept or killed upder the best conditions either, maybe I will get to them too… one thing at a time.
