Couldn’t agree more. There is great community spirit on Pix.ie. I’ve met a few members in person on the photowalks, but also online on Twitter and they’re a very helpful group.

Flickr really doesn’t hold any appeal for me now.

Thanks for the post which is a real tribute to the people who make up the Pixie community!

As companies grow and accountants take over sometimes the original spirit of a company is lost. This is not a mistake we are going to make.

ha, there was some serious work to be done, so ..fair enough to comment now?
i enjoyed your words and view on the pixie community!
only “met” pixie last may through letsdoitgalwy.ie and lookwest.ie who were hoping to get 10.000 images uploaded for the vor stop-over.
since then i’m rather hooked on it, learned a lot about photography just by looking at other peoples albums and reading comments.
not being a real photog and with marginal knowledge of the technical side, it’s good to experience the various lines of approaching photography or just ‘fotomaking’.
so i agree with your point of view.
to put it my way:

SInce discovering Pixie about a year ago, I’ve dropped my flickr pro account like a hot spud. It’s the sense of community on Pixie that I love. That was never there for me on flickr. Also love the site’s TOTD [tweet of the day].
