Meeow – My New Housemates
September 3rd, 2009

My Granny loved cats and had one for as long as I remember. This was the first, and for a long time, the only feline I had contact with.
As much as I wanted one of my own – though moreso a puppy – the best I could hope for were hamsters and goldfish. However, my friend Sarah, who I moved in with at the beginning of the week has two cats; Peggy Sue, the eldest, and Matilda. Having known them since very shortly after their arrivals (a year apart), I’ve gotten used to them being about, having to look out for them, and even enjoying their company on most occasions.
As my new housemates, I have set a few rules which, in time, I’m sure they will learn to understand and respect:
- No peeing on the sofa, futon, my bed or my stuff – Happened once already, on my duvet of all places, it won’t happen again!
- No getting hairs all over the sofa and subsequently my clothes
- When I’m walking down the stairs, especially when the lights are out, move off of the stair I’m about to stand on.
- Stay out of the kitchen.
- Don’t hide up the back of the sofa.
- Don’t bite.
- Don’t eat my food.
- Don’t drink my beer
- No looking when I go to the toilet.
- Don’t touch my camera/lenses/other equipment.
- Don’t touch my prints
- Don’t move too much when I’m photographing you.
- You know you’re not allowed out; don’t make a run for it when the front door is open.
Follow these simple rules and I’m sure we’ll get on just fine.
