I’m not into plane spotting but…
September 6th, 2009
The annual Airshow at Portrush was this weekend and I was there yesterday for just a little plane spotting. It wasn’t the most exciting event in the world. But quite cool none-the-less and well worth it just to have super-jumbo the Airbus A380 flying straight for the cliff edge I was sitting at with other spectators, before veering off, turning and doing it again before disappearing into the distant clouds.
Along with the largest commercial airliner, there were also a number of smaller and fast planes including the very loud and fast RAF Eurofighter Typhoon – exhaust flames included!
Having not been to Portstewart/Portrush in at least 3 years (besides a short day trip in Nov ’07), it was nice to be back again and now more determined to go back soon (with a tripod!). As a place of many childhood holidays and numberous great memories – mostly of cycling all around Portstewart, body boarding on the Strand beach, the bumper cars and 2p slot machines in Barry’s Amusements in Portrush and good times with Morelli’s Ice Cream on those evening walks along the Portstewart Promenade.
Armed with my camera I got a whole bunch of photos that will be posted over the next week or so.
