Hasselblad H3D Studio Day
December 1st, 2009
Yesterday I attended one of Hasselblad’s H3D Studio Days they’ve been running throughout the UK. On popping in I was shown the basics of the camera, tested it out on the model and was shown the import process on the computer.
The camera produces a 70mb RAW file (.3FR & .XMP) from the 50 MegaPixel, 36.8 x 49.1 mm sensor producing an image of dimensions 6132 x 8176px. This then produces a 280mb 16-bit TIFF file, and using a 2GB CF memory card I was able to fit on it 26 shots.
Hasselblad offer their own free importing/editing software Phocus which I tried out, though didn’t find many benefits over LightRoom, which reads the .3FR RAW file.

The detail produced by the images, especially on 100% zoom, is incredible. With a price tag of £16,000 it may be quite a while before I get my own.
Each of these images were shot at 1/350 sec at f11, ISO 100 using an 80mm lens:
