Paris Part 3 – Shop Front

Shops and sellers are everywhere. Of course, taking photographs of the street vendors is near impossible.

On attempting to take a photograph of a stall at the Christmas Market, on the Champs Elysees I was ordered to delete said two images by two men (who I shall note were bigger than me and didn’t understand a great deal of my English) who ran the stall even though they weren’t in the shots. France has quite strict privacy laws, some unfavourable to photographers, though contrary to what appears to be a myth, these laws are against the publishing of any person without their permission, rather than just taking images.

For a country with so much history rooted in photography, this does seem a bit much…
