Chaotic City
December 23rd, 2009
I have no idea how the roads work in Paris. At various points on a road there are what we would call a ‘zebra crossing’, where, here, pedestrians would have right of way and cars must stop to let them cross, in Paris this is not the rule at all. These white lines are dotted at crossings with traffic lights, but also other spots leading one to believe it is a safe spot to cross. This is only the case if there are no cars approaching. Just like if the lines weren’t there at all really. The cars won’t stop.

It’s a big city, with a lot of traffic and plenty of bad drivers (and not enough rules?). With also many areas with no lanes, such as at the Place Charles de Gaulle, which surrounds the Arc de Triomphe. Here are a few images which reflect the chaos of the roads.
