What Is Christmas Really About?

December 28th, 2009

It’s about commercialism of course. But you already knew that.
And when all the shelves are empty, and everyone is shopped-out this is what the streets look like:

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

belfast empty streets

You could use the same pics as an opening to 28 Days Later. Or photoship in a zombie or two

Sorry – striking as your images are, I despise the ironical assertion you make that Christmas is about commercialism – for its when the shelves are shopped out and the streets empty that the value of the true meaning is proven: simplicity, humility, and satisfaction with less, arising from Christ in Christmas, bring real pleasure and lasting satisfaction.
Or so I believe
