So That was 2009

December 31st, 2009

It was a great year.
I met so many great people, had many new experiences, learnt so much and had a few big changes.
My whole outlook was changed this year. I feel I’m a different person, mentally, than I was this time last year.

“We are who we meet”.

I believe this is true; through everyone we meet we learn something, and it changes us in a small way. A little bit of the people I’ve met has rubbed off on me in a small way, others in a big way.

My photography has changed; what I shoot, when I shoot, why I shoot, how I process images, and what I do with them.

My internet habits changed, and while social networks have been massive throughout the world, with increasing trends for business/marketing use they’ve been important for me too, socially especially. I changed this site’s domain and gave it a redesign.

There wasn’t a month that went by where I didn’t spend a couple of days in Dublin, with friends, taking photographs and getting to know the city a little more. Had a fairly fabulous time in Cork, a few days with Peter in farming country, I saw my first 3D movie, first movie premier, met the awesome Ze Frank, went deer hunting in Phoenix Park. There was Twestival, and someone on Twitter bought me an MP3, followed later by being given a phone charger by someone else later in the year. Human Kindness at its best.

The Ulster Hall and Ulster Museum reopened. St Patrick’s Day was spent in the Guinness Storehouse and later I attended the exhibition by David LaChapelle, who gave a talk about his work, both thanks to Pixie.

Ronan, my cousin, got married, I visited Drogheda, had a great time at the World Street Performance Championships, started a fan page (I hope to do something with it in the next few weeks!), photographed Dublin at night at another of the many photowalks that happened, attended Europe’s first CupCake Camp, joined in a pillow fight, shot a football match, visited Howth, did a little plane-spotting, did a model shoot and went to paris (Pt 1, 2, 3).

Though the most significant things to happen in the last year were of course the death of my Granny, moving in with my friend Sarah and her two cats, and starting university.

Thanks to all my friends and to those who I’ve met in the last 12 month, online and off. I’m grateful to know so many wonderful people.

It was a fantastic year! Hopefully Twenty-Ten will be even better.
Happy new year to you all.
