Hello Twenty-Ten, You Sound So Futuristic

January 1st, 2010

lunar eclipse 31st dec 2009

Another 31st December in the bag. And a blue moon and partial eclipse to go with it. The photograph isn’t great as I don’t have the ideal lens for such images, though I managed to capture it in some form so I’m happy enough.

For the last nine years we’ve had to endure the long and tiresome ‘two thousand and…’ spoken format of each calendar year, from now on, however, it’ll be ‘twenty… [insert year]‘, which just sounds better. Ignoring the fact that ‘twenty eleven’ doesn’t really work, it will for the 87 years that follow.

So please, get it right.

…or the 87 years that follow ;-)

Happy new year Phil!

@Stephen Barnes – Feck – look it’s too early for getting everything right…

@Stephen Barnes – Though why do you say 87? That brings us to 2097, I’m saying that it’ll be in this format until 2100.

The picture is perfect! I like the drama….

If you're saying it will work for the X number of years that follow 2011, then it's 87 years (from 2012 to 2099), but if you mean from 2010 then it's 89 years.

I can be quite anal sometimes ;-)

Okay, I see what you mean and I think I meant for the sentence to state that there are 89 years from this year until 2100 though each one will have the new structure except for 2011… But that is quite complicated so I'll change it lol.
