In Dublin – Fancy A Coffee?
January 23rd, 2010

I’m currently on the bus on my way to Dublin.
I’m heading to a talk at the IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) titled ‘What is (New) Media Art?
I know plenty of people who may be interested in attending.
This talk series provides a general introduction to key concepts and themes in contemporary art. Maeve Connolly, Department of Film and Media, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, present a paper titled New Media Art, Art and (New) Media, Through the Lens of the IMMA Collection. This focuses on artists and artworks in IMMA’s Collection as a means of describing and contextualising this complex and contested area of contemporary art practice.
This talk is supported by an information leaflet which includes summary information about the topic, an essay and supplementary resource material including bibliography, resources and glossary of terms.
Also, there’s a ToeJam carboot sale taking place at the back of the Bernard Shaw pub. A bunch of us photographers went there for a photo walk in 2008 [see here] and had a great time. It was also a day when I met a whole bunch of people for the first time I now consider friends.
The Bernard Shaw is at 11-12 South Richmond Street, Portobello, Dublin 2. The Car Boot Sales starts at 13:00 and finishes at 19:00.
This is very last minute, (and I realise there are Twinnerparties taking place) though as I’ll be about I just thought I’d put it out there.
If you’re up for meeting throughout today or tomorrow in the city (with or without a camera!) just give me a call or txt on 0860688875.
