Belfast Pride 2011 — Parade & Party in the Square
August 3rd, 2011
The Belfast Pride 2011 Parade and Party in the Square took place on Saturday 30th July with a record 10,000 people on the parade and 20,000 people lining the streets to watch! The atmosphere as electric as people of all ages and sexual orientation strutted their stuff in the name of equality. Kicking off from Custom House Square, the parade moved throughout the the city centre while thousands of people cheered them on.
The sun was out and the rain stayed away. The parade itself was great fun, with everyone enjoying themselves — except the protesters, but we’ll ignore that irony for now.
Throughout the afternoon 5,000 people enjoyed the entertainment in the Square by numerous singers and dancers; a general party atmosphere could be felt from every corner of Belfast’s city centre.
